Clinique Arago wins award

On19 October, the Clinique Arago took part in the "6th Etats Généraux des infections nosocomiales et de la sécurité du patient"organised bythe LIEN association . At theend of the day's discussions, the clinic was awarded the "Hope for Patients" prize by the association's panel of judges ,in the field of patient communication and information.

Auriane Bessa (Director of Care) tells us more:

" This prize rewards an initiative we took about 1 year ago.We wanted to replace the often off-puttingpaper-based information with an innovative, effective and more entertaining system.

During thepre-operative consultation with the surgeon, the patient receives a huge amount of information, and often only retains that relating to the next stage in his or her treatment.

We have therefore chosen to producevideosequences ofaround two minutes each, so that the patient can integrate the information as and when he or she encounters different situations:

-The day of arrival

- The day of the operation (knee or hip replacement)

- Post-operative care

- Rehabilitation and prevention of dislocation

- Discharge

We invite patients to view these videos on our website prior to hospitalisation. They are also available on the in-house TV network for patients who areless comfortable with the internet.

Tracking of viewing has been added to the patient file, to ensure that patients are properly informed. These videos supplement the daily advice given by all the medical and paramedical teams.

Encouraged by the success of this new educational tool, we are preparing other videos. Some patients, enthusiastic about this concept, have already spontaneously offered to appear in one of our forthcoming videos showing the benefits of arthroplasty in their daily lives.
